Mystery is My Hobby: Henry Lawrence Murdered

·37 min·2 clips
The victim's rigor mortis proved it was murder, not accident.
Henry Lawrence, a retired millionaire, has been getting letters threatening his life for several weeks. The police have already tried and failed to identify who is sending them. Then a frantic anonymous caller reports that Lawrence has been murdered. The detective is asked to come to the ancestral home in Templin. The case opens with the room already full of tension. Hubert appears with a gun in his hand. The detective asks for the weapon. Hubert says he found it. He also cannot give a clean answer about the shot that was just heard. The inspector starts sorting through the evidence. Someone says there were two shots fired. Then another shot is counted from behind the shrubbery. The gun is examined for clues. The answer it gives is not enough to settle the matter. The murderer is still at large. A cab driver suddenly turns up in the middle of the confusion. He keeps circling Lawrence's money and safe. The detective tries to get him out of the room and off the scent. The whole scene keeps moving on bluff, interruption, and suspicion. The case stays talky and tense all the way through.
