John Radzwilla + Jason Ellis: Overcoming Childhood Sexual Trauma | MTNPOD #149

·1 hr 12 min·4 clips
Jason Ellis says sobriety forced him to face childhood sexual abuse he had suppressed for decades.
Dustin opens with the Mountain Tough mission and keeps the conversation direct. John Radzwilla comes in through Hook and Barrel Magazine and the short film Skate or Die. The setup was simple at first: a former pro skateboarder would go coyote hunting and the cameras would follow the trip. That plan falls away once Jason Ellis's story takes over. Dustin returns to the sexual abuse Jason had shared on a porch and asks whether that was the first real time he opened up about it. That question matters because it makes the talk feel like confession, not promotion. A long Spurgeon passage about war and the dragon gives the episode its frame. The Christian life is described as a daily fight, and that lands here. Addiction gets treated the same way. Jason is about two years into sobriety. He is talking to God, walking with God, and caring less about affirmation. He is trying to forgive himself, and he is trying to forgive the people he has hurt. Seven months after the short film, the change is visible. What stays central is the testimony, not the original premise. It ends up feeling lived in, not polished, and still very much inside the work.
