Turning Obstacles Into Opportunities: Lessons From Marcus Aurelius and Modern Therapy

November 18, 2025·13 min·1 clip

The Navy SEALs' 'violence of action' principle: an okay plan acted on today beats a perfect plan acted on tomorrow.

Host Gordon Bruin uses a Stoic quote from Marcus Aurelius to frame a therapeutic case study about a client who was stuck for years, unable to finish one final college class due to perfectionism and fear. The episode explores how the client broke through this barrier by finding motivation in his family and applying the principle that action, even imperfect, is superior to inaction.
