Prospera Energy Ready to Prosper? CEO Interview and the Long-Term Vision (OTC: GXRFF | TSXV: PEI)

·34 min·2 clips
At $62-$63 WTI, Garg says Prospera makes about $22 Canadian net profit per barrel.
Marathon Money opens with Kenny introducing Shabamp Garg and framing Prospera Energy as a company he sees as interesting enough to dig into further. Garg says he is chairman of the board and CEO and notes that he stepped into the board role in October last year. He describes the company as a heavy-oil producer in Saskatchewan with some prolific pools. He also walks through his background in the Alberta oil patch, from working in the fields and operating wells to time at both larger and smaller companies. That experience shapes the way he talks about the business. He keeps circling back to the same investor question: what actually makes this thing work, and what has to happen next? Prospera's near-term story centers on reactivating wells at the Loose Land property. Garg says the company is treating those wells conservatively and forecasting about 12 barrels a day for each reactivation. He notes that some wells are already beating that assumption. The key wells report gets a lot of attention because it shows production and revenue by month in a way he calls exceptionally transparent. He points to examples where individual wells are making 16 barrels a day or even 30 barrels a day. Those details are used to make the case that the market should think of this as steady, step-by-step growth rather than a sudden swing-for-the-fences move. Beyond Loose Land, he says Prospera has two other pools under waterflood that are already producing cash. Those properties are bringing in about 500 to 600 barrels a day and are not the focus of heavy day-to-day activity. That mix matters because, as Garg puts it, a growth property still needs a cash-flow base underneath it. He says the company expects to reach 1,000 barrels a day of heavy-oil production in the fourth quarter of 2025. The plan also looks past this year. Prospera says it has nine more reactivations left for the end of the year and roughly 140 more in inventory for next year. The stated pace is three to five reactivations a month, which Garg says could translate into about 5% to 7% monthly growth. He closes by stressing that heavy-oil wells can keep producing for decades, which is why he talks about long-term value rather than a quick pop.
