Debbie and Bruno are told one of them will be executed in one minute and must choose who dies first — then she sees a petrol can and thinks they will be burned alive.

The dream starts clean. Debbie Kalitz and Bruno Pelizzari sell their house, buy a yacht, and set out in 2009 for a world trip that is supposed to feel wide open. Then the boat is robbed. After a supply stop in Tanzania, the vital equipment and all their money are gone, and Dar es Salaam turns into the place where they have to earn their way back. The next chance looks generous. A man offers a thousand dollars apiece to deliver a boat to South Africa. Even before things go wrong, it feels too neat. Then the eyes change. Someone sees the wildness, hears the threat to kill if anyone moves, and the job curdles into fear. The boat turns toward Somalia. The hope that this is only a robbery fades when the vessel keeps changing course, and the captives realize they are the thing being taken. They are watched constantly. Guns stay close, guards stay tense, and the yacht becomes a mother boat because it draws less suspicion. Then one leader gets hurt. His thumb is torn open badly, and Debbie spots a risky opening where care might buy trust. She bandages him gently and gives him strong tablets for the pain. When he says she is like their mother, hope slips in before safety does. By morning, the men are talking differently, someone warns her not to come close, and that fragile trust feels dangerous again. Survival becomes a relationship. By the end, freedom, thanks, and love replace the gunpoint scenes, and the relief lands because every step of the ordeal has been earned.
