Peace When Life’s a Mess | Levi Lusko | Book Club: Part 1

June 8, 2025·33 min·3 clips
Levi Lusko's Jeep hit a 'death wobble' at 45 mph, revealing how small worn parts can cause life to spiral out of control.
It begins with a sound. He tells the story of driving his Jeep with Lennox, hearing a low-level hum, and realizing unhealthy things often make noise before the damage is visible. Healthy souls have a sound too. He ties that to praise, C.S. Lewis, and the way doctors listen for what the body is saying under the surface. Then the sermon gets practical. The pressure might be the resistance God is using to strengthen your soul instead of letting it shrivel. That is the turn. Second Corinthians gives him the language for affliction that is not wasted, because trouble can still produce something weighty. He does not soften brutal seasons. He names the feeling of smacking into a wall, then shares how his counselor helped him see those moments as stair steps instead. That reframe lands. Growth is not a clean climb up and to the right. It comes through hard transition after hard transition. Spiraling is not always downward. He pushes the image further, saying God can use a spiral the way he used a whirlwind with Elijah. The mess can move you. He speaks to the listener who feels spiritually wobbly and keeps pulling the pain back toward formation. The message is direct and hopeful without pretending pressure feels good. By the end, it turns into prayer: admit you cannot fix yourself, trust Jesus, thank God for the cross and empty tomb, and take a next step through Life.Church resources.

As heard by us

A sermon that turns pressure into progress and trouble into growth.

The piece reads as a plainspoken sermon that pulls a rough season into a simple lesson: trouble is not only something to endure, it can also do work.
