Asked what humility shows about the country, Ari does not talk like someone standing safely off to the side. He puts himself inside the same problem. No one gets to step outside it. That could turn heavy, but he keeps the conversation open by returning to the idea that everyone can take part in the solution. Humbleness is the word he chooses. From there, he reaches for nature, describing an ecosystem where worth does not come from rank. A role may matter more in one moment than another. The conductor may be necessary right then, while an audience member can leave without stopping the music. That does not make one person more human than the other. Ari draws a clean line between someone's importance in a situation and that person's basic equality. Age, gender, race, religion, political belief, and role do not get to decide dignity. People are not the same, he says, but each person remains creative, intelligent, important, and worthy of regard. Dr. Gloria closes by bringing it back to legacy: make the days count, and celebrate the music of a life.
