Lectio Divina · T Lyn

Cycle II - Tuesday, 2nd Week of Easter

April 12, 2026·31 min·3 clips
The episode begins with the Hail Mary prayer, setting a contemplative atmosphere for Lectio Divina practice.
The episode opens with the sign of the cross invoking the Trinity, followed by the Hail Mary prayer addressed to Mary as full of grace, mother of God, and intercessor for sinners at death. The host or reader then moves into the Gospel reading from John 3, presenting the exchange between Jesus and the Pharisee Nicodemus, a teacher of Israel who has come to Jesus at night. Jesus tells Nicodemus that one must be born from above, using the wind as a metaphor for the Spirit: the wind blows where it wills, can be heard but cannot be traced to its origin or destination, and so it is with everyone born of the Spirit. Nicodemus asks how this can be, and Jesus responds with a rebuke — how can a teacher of Israel not understand this? He then escalates the challenge: we speak of what we know and testify to what we have seen, but the people do not accept the testimony. If they cannot believe what Jesus says about earthly things, how will they believe about heavenly things? Jesus then establishes his unique authority as the one who has descended from heaven — the only one qualified to speak of heavenly realities. He closes with the Moses typology: just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert and those who looked upon it were healed, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. The Gospel passage is repeated in full multiple times, following the Lectio Divina practice of slow, repeated listening. The episode closes with the full Lord's Prayer and the sign of the cross. No commentary accompanies the readings; the episode is purely liturgical in character.
