Deciding The Greatest Video Game Sequel of ALL TIME - Kinda Funny Gamescast

·1 hr 48 min·5 clips
Titanfall 2 is one of the best first-person shooter campaigns I've ever played.
Gamescast opens in GDC-week mode, with everybody running on fumes and still talking like another event is waiting around the corner. Mike checks in on the night before, and the answer is basically wine, socializing, volleyball, and collapse. The choice between staying out and going home to recharge becomes its own small win. After the housekeeping and sponsor reads, the show shifts into memory card bracket business. The topic is sequel greatness, and the room treats it like something sacred and fair game at the same time. Matchups come fast. God of War 2 lands on the board against Sly 2, and the conversation immediately leans into early Kratos, the Blades of Chaos, and the weight of that era. The panel keeps circling back to how big that God of War run felt, and how strong the sequel is as a follow-up to the first game and a setup for God of War 3. The energy is part history lesson, part "you had to be there," part sheer admiration. The bracket keeps moving. Kingdom Hearts 2 goes up against Halo 2, and everybody knows the matchup is going to hurt somebody. Mike plants a flag for Halo 2 and leans on the campaign, Master Chief, Cortana, the Covenant, the Flood, and the multiplayer improvements. The sequel argument is not abstract here; it is tied to the way these games changed how people talked about their series. The show keeps folding in memory, preference, and straight-up fandom. That is the fun of it. The panel argues from lived experience instead of tidy rankings, so the picks feel earned even when the energy gets chaotic. Callbacks and repetition do a lot of the comedy work, but the actual critique never disappears underneath them. Near the end, the conversation turns toward hot takes, how they land, and whether the audience wants more voices in the mix. The whole thing ends like a hangout that somehow became a very sincere debate about sequel greatness.
