The Spider Weaver-Storytelling Podcast for Kids

·11 min·1 clip

Yosaku discovers the beautiful weaver is actually a spider using its own web as thread to repay his kindness.

Kathleen Pelly narrates a Japanese folktale about a farmer named Yosaku who saves a spider from a snake. The grateful spider transforms into a girl to help him weave cloth, but when danger returns, the spider is rescued and ascends to the sky where it weaves clouds from cotton, explaining why both spiders and clouds are called 'kumo' in Japanese.
