Alexander Jones-Storytelling Podcast for Kids

·12 min·1 clip

Half the town runs around the blindfolded magistrate shouting 'west' while the other half runs the opposite direction shouting 'east,' until everyone gets giddy and bangs heads.

Host Kathleen Pelly tells a Scottish folk tale about a husband and wife who have a silly argument about whether the world is all east or all west. Their disagreement escalates as they involve their grocer, innkeeper, magistrate, and eventually the entire town, with everyone taking sides and demonstrating their positions by running in circles. The story concludes with the reveal that the quiet observer Alexander Jones was actually a small black beetle and the lesson that the world contains all directions.
