Puffed Up? | 01.07.26 PM

January 9, 2026·56 min·5 clips
Dr. Jack Myers warns that gaining biblical knowledge in 2026 could puff you up like a blowfish if you're not careful.
Puffed up gets pictured as a puffer fish, and the image sticks. The host starts with that blunt picture, then connects it to 2026 as the big fix that still needs the listener involved. Read Proverbs daily. That advice becomes more than a reading plan, since Proverbs is treated as wisdom for all of life, not a small devotional habit. Focus becomes the fight. Pain, confusion, disillusionment, betrayal, loss, hardship, and victory can all test whether someone keeps moving forward. One fraction can matter. With the picture of a pilot losing focus, distraction comes across as dangerous, not harmless. Then Exodus 31:3 moves into the center of the message. Being filled with the Spirit of God in wisdom, ability, understanding, intelligence, knowledge, and craftsmanship gets aimed straight at work. The Spirit equips people to serve. That pulls knowledge away from self-display and points it toward building and helping somebody else. The tone stays loose and lively, with jokes about Leviticus, Old Testament rules, whining, barbecue, and not living in the Old Testament. The message keeps returning to the same pressure point. Reverence and honor are treated as the path to speed, while being puffed up means forgetting God's power and source. Wisdom needs somewhere to go. The closing charge is plain: whatever understanding God gives, use it to edify instead of wearing it as status. Saved means serving, and save to serve turns the message into a practical warning against getting puffed up.
