Day 13 of War Explained: Hezbollah Joins Israel Iran War, Gas Prices Rise & What About Regime Change? Thu. March 12

·47 min
Missiles can interrupt the interview. Shanna starts with Binyamin Moalem in wartime Tel Aviv, where both are living with Iranian strikes, not just analyzing them from a distance. Tel Aviv, they say, is taking the hardest hit in Israel from Iran, while Hezbollah is hitting the north from Lebanon. The facts come in quickly: Iranian missiles, drone reports, and the day by day shape of the war. Then Shanna brings it back to ground level. She describes seeing an interception overhead, with nothing to do but pray and run from falling shrapnel. She also says she saw United Hatzalah pictures of a defective Hezbollah warhead that landed on a path where she had been jogging. For a moment, the fear cracks open into a joke about pointy missiles and The Dictator. It helps, but not much. Hezbollah is the next problem. Shanna says she first read the group's statement as a refusal to join the war, then saw them enter two days later. Moalem turns back to Iran and the IRGC, with the Israeli and U.S. aim described as weakening the regime enough for Iranians to act. That does not mean collapse is happening. A reported U.S. intelligence assessment says there are no signs the regime is about to fall, even after many leaders were killed. An Israeli report says the IRGC leadership picture has changed sharply because so many generals are dead. The nuclear issue sits under all of it. Moalem points to 450 kilos of 60 percent enriched uranium and says Israel and the United States still need a way to extract it. Ground troops are out, though commandos remain possible. He says the United States is not sending ground forces into Iran. The close is blunt: once the targets are exhausted, the next move has to belong to the Iranian people.

As heard by us

Urgent wartime reporting that turns missile danger and border pressure into clear context.

This episode keeps its focus tight: Day 13 of the war, the danger around Tel Aviv, the pressure on the northern border, and the question of how much more the Iranian regime and the IRGC can take after leadership losses. It moves quickly, but not carelessly.
