Hobby Alumni Podcast

·25 min
The conversation opens with an introduction from the host. Two alumni join the show. Patsal Gilsaha says he is a 2006 alumnus. He talks about working at Erl Group on energy efficient housing. Patsal also says he serves as one of Eurochamber's 11 board members. There, he chairs the Sustainability and Energy Working Group, where he highlights market leaders and gives them space to talk about ESG and energy projects in Mongolia. Patsal says the group also produces policy papers. He presents that work as a way to make direct and indirect impact through the network. Patsal also mentions that he is one of the seven co-founders of Hobby Alumni. Yanjit Lam then introduces herself and says she works as a senior manager at MSFA, the Mongolian Sustainable Finance Association. The association is a member-serving NGO and works with banks and non-bank financial institutions on how to bring finance into sustainability. The host asks how the field has changed since they first started. Yanjit Lam says environmental science used to feel limited because she was focused on bio and trying to use her diploma. That view changed once she started working in the field. Now environmental science is not limited to bio, laboratory, or researcher roles. Patsal adds that the change has been especially fast in the last few years. Mongolia has passed green taxonomy and SDG taxonomy rules, and public companies now have to disclose ESG reporting. The guests also explain climate change. They point out that harsher cycles mean harsher outcomes, whether that shows up through zod, hurricanes, or other extremes. The episode ends with a reminder that the future belongs to the students listening now, plus an open invitation to reach out for advice or internship opportunities.
