Rook says eternity offers two choices: growing aloof and bored, or finding a fight worth dying for.
1. Impact Winter: In the Wind follows Hope Dunmavon and Rook through vampire-controlled Dubrovnik after the comet impact.
2. Hope narrates the escape while Rook, Josette Dupre, and Fionnua's resistance network determine who can move safely through the Bloodlands.
3. The episode's hook is that the post-impact darkness persists, and Rook suspects a powerful force is holding the gloom in place.
4. Hope and Rook evade Dubrovnik's search parties by taking a roadside car, then abandon it for a yacht with an ankle-deep flooded lower deck.
5. Rook recalls a former balance in which humans owned the day and vampires owned the night before the queen's regime helped destroy the world.
6. Hope encounters a dreamlike figure in Devon who speaks of a sword, a coming battle, and a source she draws from when everything else is dry.
7. A black dragon identified as Fiducia crosses the sky while Rook discusses the queen's disappearance and the unusual persistence of darkness.
8. Josette arrives by helicopter, identifies herself as Fionnua's lieutenant, and leads Hope and Rook toward the mountains while pursuers track Hope's blood.
9. Rook says there are two ways to spend forever: becoming aloof and bored or finding the fight one is willing to die for.
