Series Recommendation: The Invenios Expeditions

June 18, 2025·25 min·2 clips
Vince announces the launch of How I Died Season 4 and recommends a new treasure-hunting audio drama from Leviathan Audio Productions.
The episode opens with host Vince from How I Died announcing Season 4 and recommending The Invenios Expeditions, describing it as Raiders of the Lost Ark meets Mission Impossible at sea and noting it is a spinoff of Leviathan Chronicles but standalone friendly. The embedded audio drama begins with a prologue titled Duty Within Catastrophe. Serena Nairobi, a Darkwater Underchief, forces her way through a military checkpoint as the city of Leviathan loses magma containment. She finds Edward Carnell in a basement vault, where he has retrieved a small, heavy classified parcel that Serena describes as Leviathan's only hope for the future. Edward has also grabbed their coin pendants from 1831, revealing both characters are centuries old. As they flee through collapsing streets, they rescue a trapped man named Sinclair Rousseau, who is 653 years old. The three push through a mob at the civilian evacuation gate, where Serena uses her military rank to gain access to the launch bay. At the bay they discover the Zephyr escape craft are insufficient for the crowd, and people are fighting desperately for places. Serena commandeers Zephyr 7J in Launch Tube 3, refusing to leave despite it being over capacity. When a lieutenant says the weight will damage the launch tubes, Serena overrides protocol with a direct order just as the pressure shield collapses. The Zephyr launches but its autopilot is damaged and it begins sinking into the trench. Edward, a former reserve pelagic submarine pilot from 1890, disengages the autopilot and manually stabilizes the craft on one thruster with no steering. Sinclair learns that the destination is a sea gate, an aqua-dynamic vortex technology that propels craft at supersonic speed along the ocean floor. Serena explains that the vortex normally requires a computer to navigate and that missing it means sinking to the ocean floor. Edward attempts to manually enter the sea gate and the craft hits the vortex off-course, spinning out of control as the episode ends. The drama features an ensemble cast and full cinematic sound design from Leviathan Audio Productions. The episode closes with two unrelated podcast advertisements.
