Series Recommendation: Creepy

The patient confesses she buried her doctor deep underground as a fitting monument to his cruelty.
Vince opens the episode with a recommendation for Creepy, a 1,000-plus episode horror anthology podcast by John Grylls running for nine years. He notes its Creepaway Camp and 31 Days of Horror traditions and advises listener discretion before the content begins. The first story, Excite, is narrated in the form of a letter from an archaeologist to her psychiatrist. She recounts how she spent eight years pursuing an archaeological dig, only to have it halted by a city planning decision. She sought psychiatric help for depression and was admitted to a locked ward, where the doctor called her employers and financiers to have her described as potentially dangerous, resulting in permanent loss of access to her dig. The letter systematically accuses the doctor of conditioning her to feel broken, stripping her of the self-belief that sustained her since childhood, and following a rigid treatment ideology that had no room for her actual needs. The final paragraphs reveal that the narrator has drugged and buried the doctor alive underneath the city's new parking garage, and the letter is timed to the dying battery of a flashlight the doctor holds in the dark. The second story, Under the Influence, is presented as a series of beauty influencer video posts recorded over roughly a year during an unnamed apocalyptic event. The narrator speaks in standard influencer language — hashtags, gratitude, product reviews — while casually referencing a world overrun by infected or undead creatures. She finds a new high-end condo vacated by its previous owner and begins self-administering Botox and fillers stolen from her former plastic surgeon's office. Her face progressively disfigures as she over-injects. She describes not seeing another human in nearly a year, then spotting a waving man on the street and fleeing in panic. The final entries show her bedridden with a spreading infection, questioning the point of survival, before spotting the man outside her lobby window and moving toward him.

As heard by us

A horror anthology episode built around a haunted radio station and two stand-alone narrations.

Creepy is a long-running horror anthology that draws from creepypastas, scary stories, and urban legends, and this episode leans into a local radio station that seems to have ghosts in the machine.
