#197 - With Davey Ash - Hot Water’s Green Room w/Tony & Jamie

September 22, 2025·1 hr 3 min·5 clips
So I'm listening to Sean Paul on the way over to make up for lost time, and when I walk in, Tony's just sitting there like the cartoon villain with only his eyes visible.
Tony and Jamie are joined by Davey Ash. The episode starts tense but jokey, with Tony raging about being five minutes late and the sort of wind-up that seems to come from nowhere. That leads into a story about sending the wrong message in a group chat. The wrong recipient gets a savage line, and the panic hits straight away. They keep turning the moment over from every side: the drop in your stomach, the shame, the urge to block, and the hope that the message can somehow be taken back. The comedy circuit comes up as a place where you still have to be civil to people you do not especially like. They call that professional courtesy, but it also sounds like a scene with very little loyalty. A mutual dislike is left hanging rather than resolved. The hosts also talk about how they are not drinking, so the usual excuses are off the table. That leaves the chaos squarely on them. The episode keeps its rough, interrupted feel, with the conversation moving through repetition, interruption, and mock outrage. It ends the same way, in a loose run of plugs and ribbing, with Davey sent out for listeners to follow and tickets pushed before the episode wraps.

As heard by us

A prickly green-room hang that turns one wrong text into the whole night.

Tony, Jamie, and Davey make the episode feel like a prickly green-room hang, built on lateness, irritation, and the kind of message nobody wants to send to the wrong person.
