The Bride! (2026) - "Too many ideas stitched together..?"

·1 hr 4 min·4 clips
"The Bride is not bad. You guys are just boring," says Matt after naming a three-star Letterboxd average.
Hannah and Matt start by comparing when they each saw The Bride. One of them saw it early, and the other watched it separately the next day, and that timing shapes how settled the conversation feels. They keep the first stretch spoiler-free. The hosts quickly land on the movie as a wild swing. Hannah loves it almost immediately. Matt is right there with her, even as they keep picking at its rougher turns. They talk through the setup around Frank and the bride. The deception around who she is becomes part of the movie's strange charm. The episode keeps circling the same point: the film is trying to do a lot at once. That includes horror, romance, grotesque comedy, and a very loud revenge engine. Once the spoiler wall comes down, the discussion opens up further. They walk through James being executed. Clyde is sent after the bride again. Mallory and Wiles connect the sightings to the places where Reed's films were set. That trail sends them to Niagara Falls. There, Wiles tells the bride that she is Ida. Frank's apology gets treated as both sincere and doomed. He asks her to marry him, and she answers that she would prefer not to be anyone's but her own. The joke lands, but the ending does not let the conversation breathe for long. Clyde kills Frank. The bride escapes with his body and returns to Euphronius' laboratory. Police and Clyde close in. The bride is shot, the cops fire back, and the scene turns into a massacre. Mallory orders the search for Clyde. Euphronius is left with the bodies and a choice. The assistant suggests they should sleep. Euphronius refuses in the same spirit that has been running through the whole episode. They attempt to revive the couple. Outside, Clyde is arrested for killing them. Mallory sees the bright lights from the lab, and the revived couple are shown holding hands. The hosts also mention the other women inspired by the bride, who go after the mob boss in the aftermath. Across all of it, the conversation keeps returning to the same tension. The Bride has a lot of ideas, some brilliant, some clashing with each other. Hannah and Matt do not pretend those pieces all fit neatly. They are more interested in whether the movie is alive, weird, and fun enough to survive the mess. The answer, for them, is yes.
