Annette Vaughn: 'Dear Homeschool Mom' book encourages those in all seasons of homeschooling

Annette Vaughn says 100% of Dear Homeschool Mom proceeds go to HSLDA’s Compassion Grant.
Shansi Amaniyi opens the conversation by welcoming homeschool moms wherever they are in the journey. Annette Vaughn returns for a special episode because she has written Dear Homeschool Mom. She introduces herself as a mother of three boys and says she is entering her eighth year of homeschooling. She shares that she never expected her name and the title Homeschool Mom to appear together in the same sentence, and that it still amazes her. The conversation then turns to the book itself and the challenge of fitting so many voices into one project. Annette says the book ended up with more content than there was room to publish, which she sees as a good problem because so many moms wanted to be part of it. She says she was reminded that homeschooling moms are not ordinary in any dismissive sense; anyone who courageously and sacrificially chooses this path is extraordinary. The moms involved in the project supported it in different ways, including contributing letters, and each brought something distinct. Annette also points to a map of moms across the United States, from big metropolitan areas to extreme rural areas, and says God has placed amazing homeschool moms all over the country. Her point is that support can be found and shared, even when a mother feels far from others. The conversation ends with encouragement for listeners to keep going and keep connecting with one another. Annette says she will be at the March 6th to 7th conference and loves homeschool conferences because they encourage moms.
