Bridget plays a baby crying sound to avoid a foreclosure call from Bank of Seattle.
The episode opens with Bridget Landry and her two children, Charlotte and Mickey, driving to celebrate Charlotte's 15th birthday despite the absence of their father Dan, who is in rehab. Bridget uses a fake identity — 'Bridget Landry's office at Google' — to secure a last-minute reservation at a fully booked Seattle restaurant, to her children's visible embarrassment. She defends this to her kids by saying lying to restaurants is acceptable. The family's car has engine trouble above 45 mph and receives robocalls throughout the drive. At her administrative job at Eastern Redwood High School, Bridget is dealing with Jono Fisher, a student who has taken down the school Wi-Fi. When she confronts him, Jono offers a trade: he will fix it in exchange for cancelling his detention and not emailing his parents. During the negotiation, Bridget receives a call from a debt collector about a late mortgage payment. Jono instructs her to play a baby crying audio clip via a phone search to elicit sympathy from the collector, buying time on the payment. The ploy works and she accepts Jono's terms, noting she is behind on payments and asking him to keep it private. During Charlotte's birthday dinner, Bridget receives a call from an unknown Idaho number. A woman identifies herself as calling from Bridget's ex-husband Dan's rehab facility, Definitely Fast, claiming he has overdosed and needs to be transferred to ICU at a cost of $12,000 payable immediately by Western Union. Bridget is terrified and barely able to function. She steps away from the table to make calls, trying to reach the facility directly. After multiple failed attempts reaching voicemail and automated systems, she finally gets through and is connected to Dan, who is fine and confused. Bridget explains the call she received, and Dan has no knowledge of it. The episode ends with Bridget realizing the entire emergency was a staged scam targeting her personally.
