213 - Clint's Mumak Gets The Bad Touch

·1 hr 4 min·4 clips
The Necromancer reduces Courage by one, and Clint’s Herad riders stop charging anything all game.
1. Heralds of War episode 213 focuses on hobby progress, CanCon prep, and Clint’s Middle-earth event report. 2. Clint hosts with Travis Von Dusseldorf III, and their talk matters because both are actively building armies, terrain, and event entries. 3. The episode exists to catch up on what they have been painting, converting, printing, and scheduling before Christmas and CanCon. 4. Clint describes assembling squigs for a CanCon doubles army, including manglers, bounders, a squig herd, and a converted Madcap Shaman. 5. Travis says his CanCon doubles force is a “monster marsh” plan with four big pigs and as few models as possible. 6. Both hosts also discuss other projects, including Kings of War Night Stalkers, Bushido miniatures, terrain tables, blister-card artwork, and website work. 7. Clint explains the Night Stalkers as a horror-themed Kings of War faction with pale skin, Jade green, purple basing, and ruined terrain. 8. Travis adds that he is building a painting lamp and trying to 3D model a brush holder that fits a specific desk layout. 9. Travis also says he bought a CNC laser cutter and wants to use it for tokens, terrain details, and other small hobby pieces. 10. Clint then shifts to the Eleventy First Middle-earth event in Brisbane, which was held in a pub and included a bar tab for one drink. 11. The event used 500-point armies and custom scenarios, and Clint chose a Mumak, four half-trolls, and four camels because he likes fun lists. 12. His first opponent, Cameron, ran Sauron in Necromancer form with Castellans of Dol Guldur and seven models total. 13. That game used loot goblins that moved from scattered dice, and Clint’s Mumak ended up in combat with the Necromancer. 14. Clint says the Necromancer’s aura reduced Courage by one, which pushed his Herad models down to Courage 1 near Terror effects. 15. He describes that as the reason his army stopped charging and kept getting charged instead of choosing fights. 16. The second game against David used the Rings of Power scenario, where three central objectives influenced movement and scoring. 17. Clint says his Mumak got surrounded by Wargs in that game, survived longer than expected, and still lost convincingly. 18. The third game against Liam used a throne objective inspired by Denethor, where holding it required Courage checks and could leave the model stuck in place. 19. The whole episode has a loose, conversational tone with long hobby digressions, rule talk, and event stories rather than a tight interview format. 20. List builders, Middle-earth players, and hobby painters will get the most out of it, while people wanting a fast news update may skip it.

As heard by us

Rainy banter, print errors, and the new Dark Fantastic Mills Kickstarter files.

Clint and Travis keep this firmly in hobby-chat territory. The pace is loose at first, with banter and rainy weather taking up room before the talk turns to the prototype files for the new Dark Fantastic Mills Kickstarter.
