331 - Errata: The Trenks in the Room

·1 hr 38 min·2 clips
Trank's Creed is described as a possible 12 Amber swing and a card you hold until it is optimal to play.
The opener is pure table chatter. Devin welcomes Archons, brings in Liam and Sydney, and lets a Discord mix-up become a bit about too many Liams talking over each other. Then the rules brain takes over. The table keeps circling one question: does a frustrating card need new text, different rarity, or a little less panic from players who keep seeing it? Hoodwinked is the cleanest pressure point. One side says common and uncommon Shadows cards feel worse because they can show up constantly, even when limit-one language is part of the conversation. Cryptic Collapse gets a more patient defense. It sounds nasty because it does not purge itself and can come back, but rarity changes the fear level. A rare card in Archon, or in a loaded Dis house, is a different problem than a common card spread across nearly every Shadows deck. Backward fixes get awkward fast. The group jokes that nobody can walk into existing decks, redraw rarity symbols, and make old decks scarce by force. Future algorithms feel more flexible. Deck generation could be tuned going forward, but printed decks stay printed once they hit the table. The list keeps growing. Atrocity Tranks sounds obvious to them. Hoodwinked stays more debatable. Rage Reset and Reiteration pull the discussion toward Fate effects, and someone catches the distinction around Rage Reset: the concern is the Fate side people keep naming, not its play effect. The ending stays social. The host enjoys the dissent, points listeners back to Discord, Patreon, and the Necco event, and leaves the nerfs and buffs argument open for the community to keep chewing on.
