A servant is arraigned by fire. The cold open talks to a creature of cubicles, bowels, hammer, torch, and polished suits, where obedience feels less like duty than damnation. Hunger made it, but the narration still finds one spark inside that loveless place, a flame that might outgrow its basket. Vincent runs next. The Coda needles him toward revenge, naming the pig who destroyed the morgue and asking if he wants to set things right. He gives no answer. He climbs Scout City's coiled street instead, ghosts close by, the crowd falling away under the branches. Chateau Green Street waits behind its iron fence. The garden, dim foyer, and drawn out violin notes make the mansion feel kept, not safe. Percy bristles. Ratty is ready for violence in that tired, practical way of his, while Vincent reaches for an umbrella and tries to keep the ghosts from throwing the first blow. In the study, candlelight hits gold lettered books, red furniture, and Raj in a smoking jacket, playing sorrow into the dark. The welcome is gentle, which somehow makes it worse. Old rooms, pursuit, and unfinished business press in. Then the credits twist the knife, turning the familiar forest fire line into an accusation. The joke goes sour. Embers leaves fire everywhere: origin, weapon, guilt, warning, and heat under every supposed refuge.
