Introducing Primer, MaxFun’s Newest Music Podcast
May 21, 2024·49 min·4 clips
Miki Matsubara asked friends to forget everything she did as a musician before dying at 44 — years before her song became a global phenomenon.
As heard by us
A warm city pop opener that follows "Stay With Me" through melody, arrangement, anime visuals, vaporwave, and heartbreak.
Primer opens its city pop season through the most natural door: Miki Matsubara's "Stay With Me" and the Pocket Park conversation with Linda Mariano. The best stretch is the close listening.
Why you'd press play
The Heat Rocks producer hands you a door into city pop, and it opens onto something genuinely gorgeous.
