How to navigate wilderness seasons

September 25, 2023·31 min
Roz welcomes listeners back after posting a little late. She thanks them for the response to the previous episode. That response makes her realize how many people are in wilderness seasons or just trying to figure things out with God. She names the feeling of trying to live out faith while the year keeps moving faster than expected. A lot of the episode stays with that uneasy place. She describes the fear of doing anything outside God's will. For her, that fear used to make every decision feel like a possible spiritual misstep. She says she does not want to do anything where God's presence is not there. She shares that she is in a work transition and has been praying through it. When she applied for the job, she felt nervous because she did not want to step outside God's will. She says the Holy Spirit helped her see that it can be okay to try something if there is no clear no in her spirit. She also says she had to trust God enough to believe that a wrong choice would not mean abandonment. Instead, she believes God can correct her and lead her back. The deeper issue, she says, was a false picture of God. She had learned to expect that one mistake would make him leave. That belief came from hearing a lot of perfection language from other people. In this season, she is learning that a healthy fear of God is different from spiritual panic. She connects that fear to her own tendency to drift when adversity hits. The episode closes with a prayerful invitation to let God love on you and ask him to show what that love looks like. She also says she will keep sharing more about the season she is in and reminds listeners that people with platforms still go through things too.

A candid look at fear, correction, and learning to trust God through a hard season.

Roz frames this episode around a familiar fear in a wilderness season: getting so wrapped up in missing God's will that trust in correction, patience, and guidance starts to slip.
