Giant Bombcast 935: Dark Cloud 3

April 7, 2026·2 hr 12 min·5 clips
Jan Ochoa fights a migraine while Jeff Grubb isn't tip-top, setting the tone for a podcast where the hosts are barely holding it together.
Resident Evil Zero gets its day. Mike Minotti says he finished it, then somehow ends up as the defender of a game he still ranks near the floor of the series. That contradiction is the bit. The panel treats the finish like a real win, then immediately starts testing how much praise a low-ranked Resident Evil can take before the argument falls over. Mike likes more of it than expected. The missing item boxes, usually the big complaint, feel annoying to him rather than fatal. Having two characters around makes the inventory mess less punishing, because the juggling turns into a problem he can manage. The puzzles give him enough to chew on, and the look of the game helps. Since it sits close to the Resident Evil One remake visually, it gets some atmosphere for free before anyone gets to the gripes. Then chat pokes the bruise. Is it worse than the Resident Evil Two remake? The answer slides into exactly the kind of show logic that only works in the room. Scary means bad, apparently, and because Zero calms down after the opening stretch, Mike gives it a weird little pass. He still calls out annoying, bullet spongy enemies. Billy gets sized up too, mostly through the bad boy look and the tribal arm tattoo. Nobody leaves converted. The fun is watching a shaky defense take hits and keep standing.

As heard by us

A loose, affectionate Resident Evil Zero defense built around inventory friction, two-character puzzles, and series-rankings debate.

Giant Bombcast 935: Dark Cloud 3 drops into Mike Minotti's post-credits reckoning with Resident Evil Zero, and the fun is hearing him defend it while still admitting it belongs near the bottom of his own series ranking.
