Session 7

December 7, 2020·25 min·2 clips
Tessa Dixon, trapped in a psych ward, finally hears someone believe her story about a possessed soldier and a deadly tape.
The episode opens in a psychiatric facility with Dr. Martinez apologizing to Tessa for administering electroconvulsive therapy and revealing he now believes everything she has told him. He informs her that her grandmother has died and that the tape is missing from the hospital. He concludes that Corporal Wilson took it. Martinez proposes using his security clearance to get them out of the facility and visiting the Wilsons under the pretext of Tessa delivering a therapeutic apology. During the drive, Tessa produces a gun she found in Martinez's glove compartment. She dismisses Martinez's objections and insists they will do things her way. They arrive at the Wilson house and force their way in when Eliza opens the door. Tessa overpowers the Corporal and ties him to a pillar while Martinez ties Eliza. Wilson immediately demands to know why Tessa is not in the psych ward and tells Martinez he should have had her locked away permanently. During the confrontation, Tessa notices repeated lingering looks between Eliza and Corporal Wilson and then realizes they are between Eliza and Tessa herself. It becomes clear that Tessa and Eliza had an affair. Wilson forces his wife to confirm the affair. Eliza admits to the relationship. Wilson taunts and demeans Eliza. The confrontation broadens when fresh bruises on Eliza's arm are noticed. Eliza, pushed past her limits, confesses that Wilson sexually assaulted her before they married and that she accepted his proposal thinking it would prevent him from doing it to others. She acknowledges knowing about other women he targeted on base and blames herself for staying silent. Wilson denies the assaults throughout. Tessa interrogates Wilson about Byron's death. Wilson admits that Byron came to him the day he died intending to give the tape to a Dallas journalist to expose Operation Wandering Soul. Wilson found him erratic, describing a ghost, and took the tape and filed a report to prevent the disclosure. Byron was found dead the next morning. Wilson says it was suicide and insists he did not kill him. The tape then appears in Wilson's possession during the confrontation. As the situation escalates, Wilson attempts to talk Eliza into shooting Tessa and Martinez to protect their marriage and careers. Eliza appears torn. The episode ends with a gunshot and Eliza saying she is done.

As heard by us

A possession story that keeps its fear tied to personal conflict.

Ghost Tape Session 7 keeps its haunted mystery tight, but the episode lands hardest when Tessa is forced to answer for the tape, the missing hospital record, and the accusations that follow. The story does not let the fear float away from the people at the center of it.
