The master cancels a massive debt, then hands the servant over to be tortured until repayment.
Beatty Carmichael opens by bringing the listener back into Session 3 of the Prayer of Freedom Masterclass. He says this part of the session goes deeper into the book The Prayer of Freedom. The goal is to lay out the big picture behind the details that drive spirits of discipline and the torments he says they can bring. He recaps the earlier teaching on sin and discipline. He repeats the central claim that unrepented sin creates a legal right for spiritual discipline to enter a person’s life. That discipline, he says, is meant to produce repentance. He ties the idea back to creation. He says God created man in His image, which he describes as without sin. He then says sin entered and humanity lost God’s image. From there he turns to a story from his ministry context. He describes being in a mezzanine area when Susan came to him for prayer. She said she had rheumatoid arthritis and that it had been active for 15 or 20 years. Carmichael asked whether she had unforgiveness toward anyone. She said she did, and named her sister. He asked if she would be willing to forgive her. She agreed. He led her through a short prayer of forgiveness. Then he prayed for the Lord to take away her arthritis pain. He told her to test it. She went up and down a flight of stairs and said it felt a lot better. Carmichael later saw her again about five weeks afterward. She told him she had no arthritis pain since that prayer. She also said her doctor had retested her and found no arthritis at all. He presents that as confirmation of the same principle he had been teaching. He links the story to an earlier example of Bill, whose busted hip had been in pain for 35 years before repentance and healing. The point, as he frames it, is that forgiving someone can remove the discipline and make room for physical healing. He closes by saying this is the end of part one of legal rights and that the next session will move into part two. He encourages listeners to hear the teaching again, or better yet watch the video so they can follow the diagrams. He compares the material to lasagna, saying it tastes better the second day after the flavors have come together. The final note stays simple and pastoral: go back through it, and the connections will come into focus.
