806 Total Recall 2070 and Wrap-Up

·1 hr 32 min·5 clips
Farve's shoulder wound exposes the android reveal in the middle of the gunfight.
The episode opens with a warning about a rotten world and the lie of giving up, then Chris Spivey and Eddie Webb introduce themselves and head straight for Blade Runner. Chris keeps insisting Blade Runner is a good show, and Eddie keeps him from turning it into a sermon. The conversation moves into Total Recall 2070 and stays focused on how recall works as both plot machinery and a running joke. They linger on the recall-vacation bit, where the false memory is obvious almost immediately. The first episode's two big mysteries get the same treatment: the show makes the answers visible early. During the investigation, the duo finds the android hideout and an epic gun battle follows, with more 12 millimeter action than Eddie wants to hear about. Far is exposed as an android when a shoulder hit sends white stuff out. Forensics uncover a disc and some exposition about Olivia before Callie rolls in and takes the 12 millimeter. The conversation then shifts to loyalty and to the idea of giving up rights for a safer world. Callie sends human Far to recall for more clues. Richard Collector, recall head of security, admits that he sent Gish to Mars, which becomes the first real Mars reference in the discussion. The CBP pair keeps pressing for answers, but Hume only says recall no longer uses discs. Far goes through recall, showing that discs and implants are out. Back at CBP, someone is dissecting the android Hume terminated the previous evening with the 12 millimeter. Eddie keeps reacting to the repeated weapon callout like the joke has fully taken over the conversation. The episode closes on Cyberpunk Red, Tala Seren Games, and Castle Falkenstein 2.0, with the pair saying they only want that if both Spivey and Webb can work on it.

As heard by us

A Blade Runner detour that turns Total Recall 2070 into a joke-rich cyberpunk breakdown.

Chris Spivey and Eddie Webb spend the hour on Blade Runner and Total Recall 2070, and the episode works best when it leans into the fun of a story that gives away its false mystery before the scene has even settled.
