Mike sells first issues as personal anti-aging medicine. That goofy start sets the mood: big number ones are exciting, but the crew is still going to poke at the corners. Amazing Spider-Man takes over most of the table. They try to sort out a new middle-school connection from Peter's past, then concede the issue leaves that history a little foggy. Of course, they start riffing like continuity detectives. A side joke about Amazing Spider-Man number five becomes the kind of nitpick this show lives on. Then Rhino barrels into the plot. Peter misses his first day of work because superhero trouble, which sounds plenty familiar until the issue gets more physical and strange. A man collapses in the street, and the CPR scene becomes the part they keep circling back to. It is not the usual texture for a Spider-Man relaunch. Peter has more than sci-fi chaos to dodge; a heart stops in front of him, and he has to deal with it. The reason gets nasty. The old Hobgoblin Ben Kingsley is connected to drugs moving around New York that make people surge, rampage, and crash hard. Rhino starts to look less like a random smash-up and more like a clue, especially because he has been somewhat rehabilitated lately. Spider-Man follows the trail toward Rhino's house and a heart-racing trip that feels weirder than a simple reboot hook. They end loose and aware of themselves: Discord disagreement is welcome, but keep it soft. They fix a Spider-Man name mix-up and roll into the usual credits.
