A mother's last text said she was getting into a random truck with cowboys, then vanished.
Sarah Gail Ebersole was 26 years old when she disappeared in March 2023. She was the youngest of seven children, raised in Florida by an aunt and uncle. She had a young daughter who lived mostly with the child's father, and friends described Sarah as playful, curious, and adventurous. At the time of her disappearance, she was working as a dancer at a club near Interstate 75 in Marion County and living with a roommate. On the evening of March 2, 2023, Sarah texted her sister Michelle asking for a ride home from work; Michelle couldn't pick her up. At 7:50 p.m., Sarah sent a message telling Michelle to say hi to her kids. At 10:11 p.m., she sent a final message: she was getting into a random truck with cowboys and hoped they'd take her on a ride. Security footage from a Circle K on North Highway 441 in Reddick, Florida, showed Sarah voluntarily entering a black pickup truck with two unknown men around 10 p.m. Police confirmed the departure was not forced or rushed. Sarah was dropped at a subdivided residence in Reddick. James Robinson and two roommates told investigators they spent several hours socializing with Sarah and that nothing violent or troubling happened. Between 3 and 5 a.m., witnesses said they saw Sarah leave in a newer-model blue sedan, possibly a Hyundai, driven by a Hispanic male in his mid-thirties with long dark hair, which they assumed was an Uber. Investigators confirmed Sarah had not ordered an Uber that night. A year after her disappearance, investigators named Tyrone Mormon, 28, as a person of interest. Cell phone records obtained from James Robinson showed Robinson texting Mormon after midnight about Sarah, and Mormon expressing interest in meeting her. Mormon drives a blue Hyundai Sonata matching the vehicle description. When first questioned, Mormon told police he had been out of town that day and had never met Sarah, claims directly contradicted by witnesses and text records. When investigators sought a warrant for his phone, Mormon claimed he had broken it and thrown it away. The phone was tracked and recovered, and data showed Mormon and Sarah together at a 24-hour convenience store in northwest Marion County in the early morning hours of March 3rd. Mormon was arrested in December 2023 for providing false information to law enforcement. He is currently out on bond and has declined to speak further with investigators. He has not been charged in connection with Sarah's disappearance. Sarah's phone, bank, and social media activity all stopped entirely on March 3rd, 2023. Her shoes were found inside the Reddick house and her cigarettes and lighter were on the porch. Michelle Ebersole has continued to advocate publicly for her sister, organizing rallies and renting billboards. A $35,000 reward for information about Sarah's whereabouts remains available.
