Filthy Casuals with Tommy Dassalo and Ben Vernel

Episode 515: Hollow Knight Silksong First Impressions, Hell Is Us Review

·1 hr 9 min·5 clips

Ben reveals he's a new 'fur daddy' to a French bulldog named Louie, sparking a debate about pet naming regrets.

The opener wanders before it finds the games. Tommy sets up the run: a Melbourne influencer event, a 007 First Light state of play, Silksong first impressions, and Hell Is Us. Then Ben brings puppy news. The Louie bit turns a small life update into quick jokes, which is pretty much the show doing what it does before the game talk lands. Silksong has the heat here. After all that waiting, they finally have early hands-on thoughts, and the ending asks longtime Hollow Knight fans to write in. That tells you where the episode is really pointed. 007 First Light is there too. The state of play sounds less like a polite recap and more like something they want to pull apart. Hell Is Us gets its own lane beside the bigger franchise chat, so the episode has hype, suspicion, and some actual played-it response in the same pile. Even the ad break stays in character. A travel data plug turns into bits about physical SIM cards, Japan, roaming, and the awkwardness of sponsor patter. Clean segmentation is not the promise here. The banter, plugs, asides, and topic list all run into each other. By the end, it circles back to Silksong, with Nintendo Direct anticipation nearby and one last joke about wanting Hollow Knight three already. Very Filthy Casuals: a big indie release, a 007 First Light presentation, and Hell Is Us, all filtered through two hosts riffing while staying sharper than the mess suggests.

As heard by us

Silksong, 007 First Light, and Hell Is Us keep this one busy and pleasantly unruly.

The episode keeps Tommy Dasolo and Ben Vanell moving through a strong mix of games talk, from the star-studded influencer event in Melbourne to 007 First Light, Hollow Knight's Silk Song, and a review of Hell Is Us.
