“If you and I exist, then God doesn't exist” in the same sense, the speaker says.

The question starts with definitions. Asked for concise Orthodox language, the host calls divine essence God's innermost nature, whatever that finally means. Energies are God's activities. Glory, power, eternity, omnipotence, grace, foreknowledge, and providence fit there, without chopping God into parts. This is not theology for the sake of tidy categories. When someone encounters one divine energy, the host says that person receives the fullness of God's presence. A listener pushes on the problem: if the energy is not the essence, how does anyone truly partake of the divine nature? The host tightens the wording. Participation is real because the uncreated energy is divine. Participation in the divine essence is not the claim. Peter is the test case. The host argues that Peter's phrase about divine nature should not be read as later academic theology. Hebrews gets the same warning. Hypostasis, he says, did not yet mean person in the later technical sense. A Greek lookup, a later author, and a familiar doctrine can turn into a shaky reading fast. His plain rule: read biblical words in their obvious setting before loading them with later controversies. He ends by widening the concern. Salvation may be possible outside Orthodoxy, but errors can reach children, grandchildren, and later generations.
