A township trustee meeting begins with a prayer for Middle East conflict victims on St. Patrick's Day.
The March 17 meeting of Sycamore Township trustees began with a moment of silence for victims of the Middle East conflict and a prayer for peace and wise leadership. All three trustees were present: Collins, Schweigman, and Weedman. The sheriff patrol representative had no report, and the EMS fire chief introduced three pending hires: full-time paramedic Michael Berger, and part-time firefighter EMTs Keelan Harding and Kylie Gabbert, all pending pre-employment screenings. Zoning officer Jeff reported Shake Shack opened at Kenwood Square and that Cava Mediterranean will open in early June; staff informally visited the Shake Shack as a team-building activity. The administrator gave a progress update on the township veterans memorial, showing photos from the fabrication facility in Lebanon, Ohio, where laser-engraved granite monuments depicting the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force are being created with LED backlighting. Monuments are scheduled to be set in early April, with a Memorial Day opening as the target. The board approved purchase of a 2026 John Deere Gator TX to replace a 16-year-old unit used for field maintenance, and approved $59,245 for parking lot resurfacing at the Cleveland Gang of Sports Complex. The law director introduced two nuisance resolution matters: one involving a fence variance dispute at 8802 Blue Ash Road, and one involving Deer Park Auto Service, to be addressed after executive session. The administrator requested a resolution transferring approximately 3.5 acres of High Point properties to the Sycamore Township Hamilton County CIC for redevelopment. A lease extension for Tire Discounters at 7783 Montgomery Road was approved with a 60-day vacate clause giving the township flexibility for future redevelopment. Two meeting date changes were approved, moving meetings around Easter week. Purchase orders above $5,000 were approved, including a $37,409 final payment on the Sturbridge OPWC loan, which was a missed payment during COVID when the township operated under the UAN accounting system. After executive session, the board signed a consent decree for the 8802 Blue Ash Road nuisance case and a second amended agreement and restraining order against Deer Park Auto Service operated by Roger Bean. The meeting adjourned at 6:50 PM.

As heard by us

A steady township session where staffing, parks, and nuisance enforcement all come up for a vote.

This township meeting is a plain record of civic work: prayer, a moment of silence for those lost in the Middle East, approvals, staffing, parks spending, and two nuisance matters moving toward resolution.
