Carol Rosenbloom's attorney reads a will leaving 70% of the LA Rams to Georgia and only 6% to his son Steve, who immediately accuses Georgia of murder and forgery.
The episode opens at Super Bowl 34 in 2000, with Georgia narrating from beyond the grave that she died in 2008 and is buried next to Marilyn Monroe, Dean Martin, and Truman Capote. She addresses the murder question head on, framing herself as a former showgirl who was punished for wanting what only powerful men were allowed to have. The action then jumps back to April 1979 when news breaks that Carol Rosenbloom, owner of the LA Rams and known gambler, has drowned off Golden Beach, Florida. Georgia is shown with her assistant Mel at the scene, performing grief while immediately beginning to calculate what the will might say. She calls Carol's attorney Edward Hookstraten, who tells her to buckle up for an unexpected revelation, triggering three sleepless days of tarot readings and anxiety. Georgia returns to LA and organizes an extraordinary nine-hundred-person funeral at the Bel Air mansion, complete with eulogists including Don Rickles and a rabbi, a jazz band, and Georgia singing Carol's favorite ballads. Guests at the funeral whisper that the performance is excessive, and Steve Rosenbloom is visibly furious. He steps outside to smoke with a caterer and says he does not believe his father's death was accidental, citing Carol's habit of never swimming alone and the strength of the undertow. Georgia intercepts the conversation before Steve can be more explicit. Back in the house, Georgia is clearly managing the event to secure her public position as the grieving widow. Several days later, the family assembles at the Bel Air house for the will reading. Attorney Hookstraten reveals that Carol left 70% of the LA Rams to Georgia and only 6% each to his five children, with Steve to manage operations under Georgia's oversight. Steve immediately rejects the will as fraudulent, recalling a different version his father apparently discussed with him. He accuses Georgia of scheming and of engineering the Florida trip and Carol's drowning, demanding Mel confirm what happened. Georgia shuts down every accusation with composed authority, has Steve shown out, and ends the episode with a mutual threat: neither knows what is coming next.
