Paranormal Activity Interview & More Paranormal Stories

·45 min·4 clips

Mika Sloat, star of the original Paranormal Activity, discusses the new Audible podcast True Tales of Possession.

The episode opens with host James Witham introducing the topic of paranormal activity and a new Audible podcast. He interviews Mika Sloat, who played a key role in the Paranormal Activity film franchise. Mika reflects on the film's unexpected success nearly 20 years later and its influence on found-footage horror. He explains his decision to return for sequels, noting the creative input of Oscar-winning writer Akiva Goldsman. Mika shares his personal background, including seeing spirits as a child and earning a master's degree in transpersonal psychology. He describes his spirit work practice and the launch of his public service at MikaSloat.com. The conversation delves into the Audible podcast, which features episodes on topics like ghosts, demons, and shadow spawn. Mika highlights an episode about Annalise Mitchell, who died after 67 Catholic exorcisms, emphasizing the real-world abuse involved. He addresses skepticism by proposing a framework that separates subjective spiritual experiences from objective scientific inquiry. Mika also discusses why some people, like young girls, might be more susceptible to paranormal phenomena. After the interview, James transitions to sharing his own paranormal stories. He recounts a childhood experience at a family wedding in New Hampshire where he and his cousins encountered a mysterious greaser-like figure who later vanished. James describes an adult episode of sleep paralysis with a tactile sensation of fingers on his arm. He shares anecdotes from a haunted tour in Savannah, Georgia, including auditory phenomena and cold spots. Another story involves hearing his name called in an empty house early in the morning. James concludes by encouraging listeners to share their own stories and promoting the podcast's availability.
