Chapter 28 - Those Are Some Of My Favorite Parts

January 14, 2026·37 min·3 clips
Keto witnesses the small gecko Alan transformed into the monstrous Grand Trivial Lizard, crowned king of the 25th sphere.
Alan begins as a small gecko. He watches the travelers' trials from the trees, quiet and fixed on every detail, while Keto notices how fully he takes in the island. He listens. He smells. He tastes the place like it is speaking straight to him. The story sits with scent particles, delight, and the strange intelligence Keto sees in a creature no one else on the ocean sphere quite resembles. Then Alan disappears. Ages pass before Keto hears about him again, and the news arrives with an invitation. The 25th sphere has a new sphere mover. That is worrying enough, but the invitation calls it a coronation, which lands all wrong. Sphere movers are meant to serve the astral plane, even grudgingly. They are not supposed to crown themselves. Keto goes anyway, pulled by curiosity and concern. On the 25th sphere, other sphere movers have gathered, but the welcome is off. The inhabitants insist on blindfolds before leading them in. Long before Xochiltu tries to seize power, Alan's ascension already feels wrong. By the end, Siwak Kotal may be both a problem and a way home. Neat answer? Not even close. Someone needs the whole story now.

As heard by us

A strange, patient chapter that turns a lizard legend into a usable clue.

Chapter 28 keeps Alan, the Grand Trivia Lizard, at the center while the story folds him into the machinery around sphere movers. What works best is the restraint: the lore comes in through conversation, and the wonder stays tied to the scene instead of drifting off into lecture…
