Daybreak Devotionals · Jordan Hansing

Season 3 Ep.87 Your Story Is Safe With God

March 28, 2026·3 min
Jordan Hanson introduces himself as host of Daybreak Devotionals, a short daily Christian devotional. He opens with a personal childhood anecdote about being an annoying younger sibling who tried to get into his sister's diary. He describes the tiny lock — humorously called Fort Knox — that stood in the way. The point is that knowing everything about someone doesn't mean anything must be done with that knowledge. Hanson pivots to the theological claim that the creator of the universe knows every single thing about each person but chooses not to broadcast any of it to the world. He cites John 8:26, in which Jesus states he has much to say and much to condemn, but won't — only saying what God tells him to say. Hanson uses this to make the point that Jesus, with full knowledge of the corruption and failings of the religious leaders, could have publicly exposed them. He chose not to, because God did not instruct him to do so. Hanson then applies this directly to the listener — God doesn't tell Jesus to expose them either. He argues that God's approach to sin is not to rehash worst moments but to call people to repent, leave those moments behind, and walk away from them. He states that God doesn't need a refresher on someone's worst moments — he already knows. What God wants, Hanson argues, is to see people free from their past and moving toward something better. He then ties the metaphor together by inviting listeners to give God the key to their diary, assuring them their secrets are safe with him. He closes with a comedic disclosure to his sister Elizabeth — that he did find the diary key once and that Kirk Cameron was dreamy back then. He ends with the signature line — God is not the problem, he is the answer.
