Daybreak Devotionals · Jordan Hansing

Season 3 Ep.101 Ditch the Laundry List of Sins

April 11, 2026·2 min
Jordan Hanson opens with his usual introduction as host of Daybreak Devotionals, a short daily Christian devotional. He begins with a hypothetical designed to make the listener feel the weight of shame: imagine a loudspeaker that announces your arrival and lists every sin, mistake, and failure you've ever committed. He asks whether your friendships would survive, whether you'd keep your job, whether your marriage would hold together. The central question is how anyone could live a normal, productive life if the past never left them. He then pivots to Scripture, citing Ezekiel 33:16 which states that none of a person's past sins will be brought up again for those who do what is just and right. He anticipates the listener thinking this applies only to decent people. He then reveals the people God is speaking to in that passage — the worst of the worst, including rapists, thieves, scoundrels, murderers, adulterers, liars, and cheaters. Despite that list, God is promising those specific people that their past can be forgotten. The mechanism is turning to God and doing what is right. Hanson makes the point personal, expressing gratitude that his own sins are not displayed publicly wherever he goes. He calls on listeners to take power away from whatever force wants to see them destroyed by their past. He urges them to let God remove those stains and to live. He closes with his signature line — God is not the problem, he is the answer.
