A Journey with Strange Bedfellows, Part 4

October 28, 2022·33 min·3 clips
Hunter finds Faith's body healing with gears and cogs, revealing she's a clockwork being sustained by advanced science.
Hunter Brown has come too far. Aradia Castle, on Romania's eastern edge, has already made it plain he is not wanted. Its caretakers say as much. Then the crypt opens, and the chandelier light ruins the expected darkness in the worst possible way. Faith is there. Her body rests on a spectacular bier, pierced from above by a metallic pike whose pulsing force feeds the delicate machinery inside her. The wound is closing. Where flesh should still be torn, gears, cogs, and pins work in silence, repairing what should not be repairable. Fear gives way to wonder. Hunter starts to see that Faith did not simply survive. Advanced science has preserved her. The portraits begin to feel less like family resemblance and more like evidence. Her face appearing across generations suggests a life carried forward by successive heirs. The question gets sharper: was Faith handed from inventor to innovator, improved and maintained along the way? Old Geibel changes, too. The clockwork toy maker now looks less like a household oddity and more like a keeper of Faith's hidden design. The uncle may be no uncle at all. Then the door moves. The manservant enters and shuts the heavy door behind the mistress caretaker, and discovery becomes confinement.

As heard by us

A gothic conclusion where love, machinery, and old secrets meet in the crypt.

This episode lands well at Aradia Castle, where Hunter Brown's search opens into a hidden courtyard, an ancient altar, and Faith Geibel in a crypt lit by chandelier light.
