The Vanishing | Critical Role | Campaign 4, Episode 20 Part 2

April 7, 2026·1 hr 24 min·5 clips
Inspector Grotto tells Azunay that Octis Taconus was murdered and someone tried to scrub the recording: 'I don't think anyone went to fucking Faerie.'
Brennan resumes part two without warming the room back up. The table is in Dolmakia again, and Inspector Grotto is collapsing, bleeding, and trying to get words out about a young man and a recording in the floor. Azunay wants witnesses, so the panic gets pulled toward procedure: Einfassen security, a courtyard, questions asked while Grotto is barely holding together. Murray and Belair read the room and leave fast. It has that blunt table logic where sticking around feels like choosing extra trouble. Then the clue work gets weirder. Magical energy is on the amphora and murals, but the paint seems to matter more than the vessels. These materials are special, expensive, and custom enough that Orys might recognize the order. Brennan keeps it playable with the trebuchet comparison, which makes arcane sourcing land immediately. The table follows that thread: if the paint already carried the charge, maybe the painting set something off before anyone understood what they were doing. Shadi becomes the awkward missing piece. She is gone, and the mural no longer feels like background art. Then touch enters. A hand finds a dry-ish patch of wall, and Brennan turns it back with the question: what are you feeling? By the end, the mood loosens into looking for a busker, session celebration, and a nudge toward the cooldown.

As heard by us

A tense Dolmakia investigation follows a damaged witness into magical paint, custom amphora, and one loaded mural.

The Vanishing drops back into Dolmakia with Inspector Grotto bleeding, shaken, and trying to spit out what he saw: a young man, a recording in the floor, something bad enough to leave him barely coherent.
