Seeking Sanctuary | Critical Role | Campaign 4, Episode 13 Part 2

February 10, 2026·1 hr 29 min·5 clips
A 24 insight check reveals Aranessa silently realizes her own parents made the same fatal mistake as Lord Einfassen.
Brennan drops listeners straight back into Ahriman. After the part-two reset, the table rolls through Schneffen Keep, Haus Einfasen, and Klippenblick with the kind of pronunciation mess that makes a castle sound like furniture. Julian is not ruined, just very much not sober. When Aranessa knocks, he hides the gauntlet, wipes his face, and takes her check-in with the tight politeness of someone trying to recover five percent of himself. The room is soft for a minute, but nobody gets to relax. The shift comes when the vulture has blood on its beak and the table realizes the bird caught its target only after the pigeon had reached somewhere nearby. The splinters do the real work. If they point to wicker, then the destination is not distant Dolmak Yar, and a bit of animal handling turns into a sudden map of the threat. Then everyone moves. Julian leaves the vulture where it is while the party lines up the escape, and Tysha jumps out the window because subtlety is apparently done for the day. Aranessa adjusts fast. She writes a retreat letter blaming helpful fey forces, sends released soldiers toward the Golden Orchard, and turns a messy exit into something like a plan without losing her composure. The courtyard gives them no clean way out. As Tysha crosses it in the open, the front gates part and a massive black carriage rolls in, carrying enough menace for the table to start talking over itself. Even the color black becomes a bit. The carriage is not just dark; it has cathedral-like alcoves and empty suits of armor where saint statues should be. That image lands. By the end, the players are admiring druids, recoiling from scary sisters, and snapping between awe, panic, and laughter. The outro returns to the usual business: a review request, a Beacon cooldown plug, and the Thursday refrain. The courtyard threat is still there.

As heard by us

Castle intrigue, fey improvisation, and a sinister carriage give this mid-arc Critical Role episode a lively charge.

Seeking Sanctuary catches Critical Role in a deliciously unstable corner of the castle, with Julian frayed, Aranessa calmly drafting an exit strategy, and a bloodied vulture turning an intercepted message into a sharper clue than anyone expected.
