Spookfest 2024

·2 hr 9 min·5 clips
Brady Flanagan opens with community pride. He describes an indie audio drama scene built by writers, performers, and sound designers making strange good work outside the mainstream. Then Mr. Graves takes over. He turns SpookFest into a hosted run of monologues with sound and music, with a Your Horror Show plug and a theatrical beware-the-horror warning. The first excerpt teases the harvester, then cuts off before the event swerves into a tense relationship starter involving a real gun and a speaker who claims to know how someone killed her. Romance, apparently, has range. From there, Mr. Graves pivots to a mother facing something sinister in a new home, right when the old mountain rules start looking less quaint and more like a terrible idea. She calls the children inside. Then she tells the unseen presence that the ancient agreements no longer hold, the coven walked away, and the outside world no longer believes in it. Brutal branding feedback, honestly. The confrontation keeps getting uglier as she blames the entity for taking too much, demanding too much, and attracting attention through teenagers in the woods. Simple villagers are gone now. The threat over that scene is modern scrutiny, not pitchfork nostalgia, and the monster seems badly behind on public relations. The closing stretch goes cosmic. A captain confesses to draining the navigator while the crew slept, secretly changing course toward B1397, and doing it all to reunite with Guinevere. True love gets alarming mileage here. By the end, Mr. Graves thanks the performers and writers, then points listeners back toward Your Horror Show and next year's seasonal trouble.

As heard by us

A brisk Halloween anthology that keeps changing tone without losing momentum.

SpookFest 24 is a host-led run of indie horror monologues, with sound and music giving the set a polished, nimble frame. It moves from an old farm legend to a warning from the mountains, then into a shipboard confession, and that shift in tone is what keeps it moving.
