Clockwise

Always Using My Little Snippets

Dan Moren surprises listeners by announcing he'll continue hosting Clockwise indefinitely on its 600th episode.
Six hundred is the number. Micah opens the anniversary with the usual Clockwise setup still humming: four people, four tech topics, 30 minutes, and enough celebration to make the celebration itself the joke. Dan makes his big announcement. He will keep hosting indefinitely, which gets the fake shock it deserves from Amanda. The Yoda bit happens too, then everyone moves on because the clock is still running. Amanda comes in with TechCrunch credentials and an easy return-to-the-room energy. Pretty quickly, the panel is back in its normal rhythm: quick jokes, clean handoffs, and opinions that are only half joking. The main clip here turns to music. Amanda has a friend trying to move the whole group to Apple Music, partly because that friend says it pays artists better and partly because the audio quality is better. On paper, sure, switch apps. In real life, habits stick. The algorithm has been picking the next thing for long enough that stepping away feels more complicated than it should. Amanda is on a three month Apple Music trial and likes the idea of feeling a little less managed by the algorithm, while also admitting she reports on TikTok and knows nobody is exactly outside the machine. That is the Clockwise part of it. The panel does not pretend a streaming service switch is freedom. It treats it as one of those tiny tech choices that says something about how people actually live with their apps. Halftime gives Dan room to praise BBEdit, and he means it. Words, code, log files, data science, Markdown: his pitch is that every Mac should have BBEdit around, even in free mode, because boring text problems still need a tool that works. Micah closes by thanking Amanda Silberling and Shelley Brisbane, mentions Clockwise membership, and Dan points everyone to episode 601. The clock keeps ticking.

As heard by us

Clockwise's 600th episode turns music apps, algorithms, and BBEdit loyalty into relaxed, grounded tech talk.

Clockwise marks episode 600 with the show's familiar four-people, four-tech-topics, 30-minute shape and a suitably loose anniversary mood. Micah Sargent and Dan Morin keep the milestone light, with Amanda Silberling and Shelley Brisbin joining as guests, before the conversation…

Why you'd press play

You get four tech people, a strict 30-minute format, and one very unresolved argument about music streaming.
