Cinema Hooligante!

April 1, 2026·31 min·3 clips
Matt Wilde reveals why Milwaukee Record is the sole sponsor of the Cinema Hooligante program for 12 years.
Cinema Hooligante takes the spotlight. Christopher Pollard and Dori Zori bring in Matt Wilde from Milwaukee Record to talk through Milwaukee Film Festival's creepier, kookier program. The vibe is easygoing from the jump. They open on Milwaukee Record's movie-loving streak, then drift into creepy, kooky, ooky picks from the festival. The jokes start early. Matt runs with a bit about the Addams Family and the Charles Addams estate, and that sets the room's loose, friendly pace. Then the questions get weirder. Childhood smells somehow lead to the very specific problem of a significant other coming back as a vacuum cleaner. For this program, that tracks. Cinema Hooligante sounds like a home for odd premises and horror with chatter around it. Hocum gets real attention. Matt names the Adam Scott film as the one with buzz and ties it to earlier Hooligante movies like Late Night with the Devil and In a Violent Nature. Adam Scott sends them down a side road too. They talk about his shift between comedy, Severance, horror, and more serious work, but nobody turns it into a lecture. Flush also lands well. The UK film gets pitched as a one-location story about a man trapped in a men's room stall, which leads to some appreciation for tight horror setups. The practical festival stuff keeps coming back too: lineups, anticipation, and screenings. The ending stays warm and local. They thank producer Lodi, theme songwriter Nooski, Joe Wilde Garage Doors, Radio Milwaukee members, Milwaukee Film members, Milwaukee Record listeners, Milwaukee Record subscribers, and Matt himself.

As heard by us

A local, conversational festival preview for listeners who like their horror creepy, kooky, and a little ooky.

Cinema Hooligante feels less like a slot and more like a mood, and that fits the conversation well. Matt Wilde from Milwaukee Record matches the banter with easy enthusiasm, and he clearly likes the creepy, kooky, ooky run of films on offer.
