CONSUMED WITH THE HOUSE OF GOD

February 24, 2026·1 hr 3 min·5 clips
The early church had services every day, but today we struggle to gather monthly.
The room wakes up first. Singing, seating, prayer requests, and a joke about gum give the service its live, slightly messy feel before the sermon settles in. Page 22 is not throwaway detail. The hymn and the line about being washed in the blood put salvation in the room before instruction begins. Then the preacher leans in. He moves past surface religion and says the value of God's house is not in the material around it. Curtains are not the point. The presence inside is. The holy place, the Holy Ghost, and saved people gathered around that truth are what matter. He keeps asking and answering his own questions. Why would a man love curtains, he says in effect, unless what he really wants is the presence of God behind them. Romans eight gets blunt. If someone does not have the Spirit, the preacher says, that person does not belong to Christ. The sermon keeps tightening. He reads about longing, fainting, birds nesting near the altar, and dwelling in the Lord's house. He envies the birds because they get to stay near the altar, and that picture turns into a sharp word for casual church attendance. New converts become his proof. When they want church every day, he jokes about who would have to preach, but the joke still points at hunger for God. AI gets brushed aside hard. It may make words, but the preacher says it has no Holy Ghost, no power, and no spirit. The ending comes back to need. Scripture is the thing that tells a person how to be a father, wife, parent, husband, how to work a job, and how to run a job.

As heard by us

A live church service sets the frame, moving from hymn and prayer requests into a psalm about longing for the courts of the Lord. The preacher asks what it means to be consumed with God's house, then follows the passage from temple imagery, curtains, and the holy of holies…
