The Sprint to the Finish with Doug Cobb

March 14, 2026
Kentucky gives the conversation its warmth. Tim Moore opens from Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, where Bob Russell's legacy and Nathan Jones's earlier service make the visit feel personal. Doug Cobb returns as a guest, with his book And Then the End Will Come sitting behind the main concern: gospel witness among people groups around the world. The Finishing Fund stays at the center. Tim points to Doug's work touching more than 800 people groups in 66 countries, then turns toward the final stretch of mission. The need is global, but it is also nearby. Doug points to Southeast Asians, Indians, and other populations in major cities as a reminder that unreached peoples may live only minutes away. That puts the assignment within reach for ordinary believers. A Christian may not need to board an airplane to meet someone who has never heard of Jesus at all. Tim brings the point back to blessing. He asks Doug to talk not only about the hearer's salvation, but about the joy given to the person who goes and speaks. Doug answers from ministry experience, not theory. He funds many who go overseas and does not often live that work directly, but the stories of first believers still hit him hard. One image carries the feeling of the episode: a first follower of Jesus in a people group is like a candle lit in a room that had been completely dark. From that first life, witness can spread outward. Doug ties the pattern to the book of Acts and Peter's visit to Cornelius. Tim closes with a direct appeal. The person needing the gospel may be across the world, or as near as next door. The blessing runs both ways: eternal life for the hearer, joy for the witness, and resistance against the enemy's desire that none come to salvation in Jesus Christ.

As heard by us

A clear call to see missions as both global and close to home.

Tim Moore and Doug Cobb frame the visit to Southeast Christian Church around a simple point: the gospel still has people groups left to reach, and some are closer than most listeners would assume.
