The Sinister Secrets of Haunted & Cursed Mirrors.

·26 min·1 clip
Zach Baggins says a Bela Lugosi mirror drew in something unwanted after occult attempts to contact his wife.
Cauldron Convos opens with an old mirror in a quaint house at the edge of town. Its warped glass and carved frame make it feel a little too alive from the start. Dolores stands in front of it on a stormy night. The room drops colder, and her reflection changes in a way that is not remotely normal. The mirror starts speaking in a whispery voice. It tells her about forgotten secrets and souls trapped inside. She notices a presence behind her and turns, but there is nobody there. When she looks back, the reflection is gone. A ghastly figure with hollow eyes has taken its place. Dolores tries to step away. Something invisible holds her there. The mirror surface ripples like dark water. Then the story snaps shut with Dolores being pulled inside and the mirror going silent again. After that, the hosts move into the custom of covering mirrors after a death. They bring up the legend that a particular mirror in the Woodruff home was left uncovered after the poisoning of the family by one of their slaves. According to the story, that mirror trapped the spirits of Sarah and her children. The hosts linger on the reported handprints and the idea that people still see them near the room where the poisoning happened. They also point out how people post photos, blogs, and Yelp-style chatter about the place. The conversation gets amused and grossed-out at once over a child's handprint on a steamy bathroom mirror. The banter turns into half-serious talk about what someone searches on YouTube in an Airbnb at night. The show then pivots to another haunted mirror at Belcourt Castle. They describe the mansion as a historic Newport place built in 1894 by Oliver Hazard Perry Belmont. The architecture gets a quick roll call of gothic, renaissance, and Romanesque influences. The story also mentions a similar-style murder in 1982 and that the death remains unsolved. Bela Lugosi's former connection to the house gets folded in as another bit of eerie history. From there, the mirror's owner explains that the object once hung in a house linked to Lugosi and that Cindy believed it absorbed bad energy from witnessing that murder. The episode closes by circling back to the paranormal logic of mirrors and the idea of scrying. The hosts sign off after keeping the tone loose, funny, and just strange enough to stay fun.
