Cast Party: A Dungeons & Dragons Podcast · Pickaxe

A Two-For-One Special | Campaign 2 | Ep.49

·1 hr 5 min·2 clips
Dominic says the training is about insignificance, then calls it a "motivation tool."
Rocky is missing from the table because she is getting married and is in the final wedding prep stages and honeymoon. The hosts tell listeners to send her love and say she will be along for the adventure after a few episodes. The session opens after a long night of mental training. The party heads to Mr. Jericho's to check on Eloise after the burning building incident. Eloise is awake for the first time when they arrive. She keeps dodging everyone's gaze. Mr. Jericho has her explain what happened. She says she tried to use illusion to change her outfit. Lenore sees through the story quickly. Eloise is distant, though she also seems excited for her lesson. That tension gives the scene its weight. The episode then pivots into a planetarium sequence. Santos watches a guide treat the sky like something that can be opened up and zoomed through. An auburn galaxy fills the view before the whole dome becomes a larger map of space. A dark patch, at first, looks empty. Then galaxies fade in from the blackness. The scene keeps widening until the scale becomes hard to hold in your head. The conversation turns to how many planets there could be and how many might hold life. It pushes further into the question of how many distinct people, wants, and needs exist across the universe. After that, the table slides back toward banter and teasing, ending on a family-like effort to keep one another on track.

As heard by us

A roomy, banter-forward episode that finds its biggest lift in the planetarium.

Cast Party uses Rocky's wedding-week absence and the visit to Eloise to keep the episode moving outward. The planetarium stretch lands as the strongest passage, letting the wonder settle before the table pulls it back to plain, human reaction.
